The Clock Tower, which is one of the symbolised figures of the places to visit in Izmir, was built at the request of Grand Vizier Mehmet Said Pasha to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the accession of Abdülhamid II to the throne.
Nesim Levi, one of the Jewish businessmen of Izmir, had this lift built to facilitate his route between Mithatpaşa Street and Halil Rıfat Pasha neighbourhood.
